Note: In April of 2009, the Modern Language Association released a seventh edition of the MLA Handbook , in which they made a few important changes to MLA documentation style. The most significant change are as follow:
f) Use LOWER CASE letters for conjunctions such as and , because , but , and however; for prepositions such as in , on , of , for , and to ; as well as for articles: a , an , and the , unless they occur at the beginning of a title or subtitle, or are being used emphatically, ., “And Now for Something Completely Different: A Hedgehog Hospital,” “Court OKs Drug Tests for People on Welfare,” or “Why Winston Churchill Was The Man of The Hour.”
